Description
We have an opportunity for a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our friendly Levin workshop. In this role, you will be working on a diverse range of vehicles including heavy trucks, camper vans and heavy machinery. Your day-to-day responsibilities will cover general servicing and maintenance of diesel equipment, diagnosing both mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out major component repairs on clutches, gearboxes and differentials. You will also handle engine rebuilds, preventative maintenance, CoF checking and repair work. Ensuring all repairs are followed by thorough test drives and that service records are accurately maintained will be a key part of your routine. To be successful, you must already be based in New Zealand with relevant local work experience. You will need to have at least two years of relevant automotive experience or are a New Zealand Trade qualified Diesel Mechanic. We are also very open to Light Vehicle Mechanics who are eager to train and make the switch to diesel. You will need strong diagnostic skills, attention to detail and the ability to work reliably to project timeframes. We value team members who work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A Class 1 driving licence is essential, while Class 2, 4 or 5 licences are desirable. Please note that successful applicants must be able to pass a drug test and strictly comply with all health, safety and company policies. In return, we offer a supportive workshop environment with a strong health and safety culture. This is a long-term opportunity for the right mechanic, featuring excellent pathways for ongoing training, development and career progression. This is a full-time, permanent position with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week, though your ordinary hours will be 40 hours per week, normally worked between 8am and 5pm from Monday to Friday. We are offering a competitive rate of $30 to $40 per hour depending on experience and commitment required for this role.
