Grey St Motors is an independent, locally owned workshop with a small, tight-knit team that takes pride in doing the job right and maintaining a professional, respectful workplace. We are looking for an experienced Automotive Technician who has a passion for the automotive industry, who takes pride in their work, enjoys problem-solving, and wants a stable, drama-free environment. In this role, you will carry out diagnostics and repairs on a variety of vehicles, including petrol and diesel cars, utes, and light commercial vehicles, using modern diagnostic and workshop equipment. You will also conduct WOF inspections and communicate effectively with the team and customers, delivering work efficiently while maintaining high standards and attention to detail. There are also opportunities for leadership responsibilities in the future for the right candidate. We are seeking someone with proven experience as an Automotive Technician and WOF Inspector, strong diagnostic & problem-solving skills, reliability, sense of humour and a positive attitude. You should be a team player who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and is willing to learn and grow. Applicants should hold a NZ Trade Certificate or equivalent, a full NZ Driver Licence, and a current WOF Inspector certification (or be willing to work towards it). You must be a NZ citizen or hold a valid NZ work visa. We are currently looking for a qualified Automotive Technician to join our busy, well-established workshop in Motueka. We carry out a wide range of work including diagnostics, repairs, WoF inspections and servicing, so this role will suit someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship. Operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (no weekends) Key Responsibilities include vehicle diagnostics and fault finding, mechanical repairs and maintenance, Warrant of Fitness (WoF) inspections, routine servicing and working efficiently while maintaining a high standard of work. You will need to have a trade-qualified Automotive Technician, be reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team, have strong practical and problem-solving skills. A WoF authority preferred (or willingness to obtain). You will need to have a full NZ driver licence. The ability to multitask and prioritise effectively is essential. While not strictly required, previous experience in administration or customer service is preferred, as is familiarity with Xero or SAM software.
