We’re looking for a qualified mechanic to join our small, friendly team in Gore. Known for working on all makes and models, we pride ourselves on honest service, quality workmanship and strong relationships with our loyal customer base - many of whom are passionate car enthusiasts. You’ll be part of a close-knit team in a fully equipped workshop, where the focus is on doing the job right the first time. We’re after someone with mechanical qualifications, solid diagnostic and repair skills, and confidence working across a wide range of vehicles. WOF authority is a plus, but if you don’t have it, we’re happy to support the right person to get certified. Good communication and a strong work ethic are essential. This is a full-time, permanent position, though a minimum two-year contract may be considered. The working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7:00am to 4:00pm, constituting an 8.5-hour workday and a total of 42.5 hours per week. You will receive a competitive hourly rate. SB European shows appreciation to deserving staff through other monetary means if a bonus is not possible in a particular year. We are looking for someone with specific critical skills. You must be able to perform accurate diagnostic assessments promptly using electronic tools, while also having the experience to complement these assessments with your natural senses (smell, sight, hearing, touch) and the ability to 'think outside the box'. You must perform all repairs to high standards of quality and safety. Culturally, we expect you to be personable, friendly, and open to negative feedback with a strong determination to improve. To be offered this role, you must meet the following requirements: you need two to five years of work experience as a technician in the lightweight automotive industry, with proven skills, specifically on European cars. While specific experience with VW, Audi, and Skoda is an advantage, it is not essential. You must be able to demonstrate your diagnostic and critical thinking skills, possess proven competency in computer skills, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Finally, during the interview, you must be able to confidently explain and demonstrate your passion for the automotive industry.
