MTA to release Government 'Warrant of Fitness' check

Coming Tuesday 3 June 2025. Watch this space!

The Motor Trade Association will release its third Warrant of Fitness check for the Government on Tuesday 3 June 2025.

And to make sure the Government sees whether it’s passed or failed, MTA has taken out billboard space right under their eyes, down the road from the Beehive.

“We know that the previous WoFs have created a bit of chatter in the Beehive,” says Head of Communications Simon Bradwell.

“With everything that’s going on, we want to make sure they don’t miss this one. There’s a few things in there that might raise some eyebrows.”

In the two previous six-month WoFs, Government has secured two passes but with the caveat that several areas needed attention.

“The Government has since made progress in issues like workplace training and road safety,” Bradwell says.

“But maybe not so much in key areas like immigration. We’ve taken a careful look at their overall performance to determine whether the Government is roadworthy or not.”

Although it’s a fun format, the messages behind the WoF are serious. As a key contributor to the economy and communities, the automotive sector needs strong support from Government.

“There’s plenty going on that affects the sector at the moment,” Bradwell says. “How we think the Government is responding will be revealed.”
