True Blue Awards

Do you know a ‘True Blue’ MTA member? Nominate them for our community award!

MTA members aren’t just automotive experts - they’re generous, kind-hearted Kiwis who love to support their local communities.

We reckon these community champions deserve a round of applause. The True Blue Awards celebrate and thank the MTA businesses that go above and beyond to make an outstanding contribution to their local area.

Whether it is through local support, volunteer work, mentoring or simply being a pillar of strength when it counts, we want to shine a light on the local businesses that embody true community spirit.

A True Blue Award is a way of saying thanks and giving these local legends a well-deserved pat on the back. Nominating an MTA member business is as easy as sending an email, so nominate today!

What are we looking for?

Member businesses that support their community by:

  • Fundraising for local charities
  • Helping out support services
  • Going the extra mile for families in need
  • Volunteer work, local sponsorship or mentoring.

Who can be nominated?

  • MTA businesses: Any MTA member businesses or business owners, rather than individual employees. (Not sure if they are a member? Check out our Find a Member page)
  • Community champions: Businesses that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment and positive impact within their community and deserve to be recognised. Full terms and conditions will be sent to anyone nominating.

Who can nominate?

  • Everyone: Nominations are open to both MTA members and the general public.
  • No connection needed: You don’t need to have any connection to the MTA or the business you are nominating. Anyone can put forward a deserving member.

Ready to recognise an extraordinary business?

Just email [email protected] with the name of the business and the reasons why they should win a True Blue Award.

To say thanks to you, we have a $100 Woolworths voucher to give away every month to a successful nominator.

So what are you waiting for? Nominate a deserving business today!

MTA True Blue Awards - Terms and Conditions

1. About the awards

The MTA True Blue Awards recognise MTA members or MTA member businesses and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to their community.

The awards are open to nominations from members of the public and MTA members. Nominators do not need to be MTA members.

Nominators may nominate an individual, business or organisation and do not need to have any connection with MTA or the nominee.

MTA reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or the Awards process where reasonably necessary.

2. Who can be nominated

All nominees must be paid-up MTA members at the time of nomination and must remain paid-up members at the time the award is made.

Nominations may be made for an MTA member individual, business or organisation that has made a positive and meaningful contribution to their community.

The contribution may take many forms, including volunteering, supporting others, fundraising, community initiatives, acts of kindness, helping people in need, or making a sustained contribution to the local community.

3. Who can nominate

Nominations are open to anyone aged 18 years or over.

Nominators may be:

  • MTA members; or
  • members of the public.

A nominator may nominate themselves or another person, business or organisation.

Nominators may be related to, employed by, work with, or otherwise connected to the nominee. However, they must disclose any such relationship or connection as part of their nomination.

4. Nominations

Nominations must be submitted using the official nomination process and include the information requested.

Nominations should provide enough information for the judging panel to understand:

  • who is being nominated;
  • what they have done;
  • who or what has benefited from their contribution; and
  • why the nominator believes the contribution is outstanding.

MTA may contact the nominator or nominee for further information or clarification.

MTA may, at its discretion, accept or reject a nomination where the information provided is incomplete, misleading, inappropriate or does not meet the general purpose of the Awards.

5. Nominator information and consent

Nominators must provide their full name and contact details.

By submitting a nomination, the nominator consents to MTA collecting and retaining their personal information for purposes connected with the Awards, including:

  • administering and assessing nominations;
  • contacting the nominator or nominee;
  • verifying information provided in a nomination;
  • communicating with the nominator about the Awards; and
  • promoting the Awards and their nominees.

The nominator also consents to MTA using their name, and information they provide about the nomination, in MTA promotional material, publications, websites and social media. MTA will handle personal information in accordance with applicable New Zealand privacy law.

A nominator should only provide personal information about another person where they have a reasonable basis for doing so.

MTA will complete a monthly prize draw for all Nominators in that month; one randomly selected nominator will win a $100 voucher. The nominator will be contacted directly about this. To be eligible the nominator must have met all T’s &C’s and have completed a valid nomination.

The draw will take place at the same time as True-Blue awards are selected and the decision is final.

6. Consent from nominees

On receipt of a valid nomination, MTA will contact nominees to confirm their nomination and obtain further information.

MTA will seek the nominee's consent where appropriate to publicly identify or feature a nominee as part of the Awards or related promotional activity.

Nominees may be asked to provide photographs, comments or other information for use in promoting the Awards.

7. Judging

Nominations will be considered by a judging panel selected by MTA.

Judges may consider factors including:

  • the nature and significance of the contribution;
  • the positive impact on individuals or the community;
  • the effort, commitment or initiative demonstrated; and
  • the overall circumstances and context of the contribution.

The judges' decisions will be final. MTA is not required to provide reasons for individual judging decisions.

8. Conflicts of interest

Nominators must disclose any relationship or connection they have with the nominee.

Judges will be expected to declare any actual or potential conflict of interest and may be excluded from considering a particular nomination where appropriate.

9. Publicity

The nominator's name and details may, for purposes associated with the Awards and their promotion, be published on MTA's website, social media channels, newsletters, publications, media releases and other promotional material.

MTA will not knowingly publish sensitive personal information provided in a nomination unless there is an appropriate basis and consent to do so.

10. Accuracy and good faith

Nominators must provide information honestly and in good faith.

MTA may disregard a nomination if it believes information has been deliberately misrepresented, fabricated or submitted for an improper purpose.
